Home for the Holidays
Family is not an important thing. It’s everything. – Michael J. Fox
The holidays, however and with whomever you celebrate, are a special time of year filled with love, hope, and most importantly, family. When we say “family,” all of us at Waggin’ Tails feel strongly that our families include our pets.
Corky, an 11-year-old Poodle/Labrador, lost the only mom she ever knew when mom sadly passed away.
Extended family was unable to keep Corky, but, luckily, there was room in foster care with volunteer, Shelby.
It took some time for Corky to adjust to her change in circumstances, but once she learned she was safe and
loved, she adjusted to the new routine. It is an incredibly rewarding experience to earn the trust of a dog.
Because someone was willing to temporarily take in Corky, she did not have to experience life in a loud,
stressful shelter which undoubtedly would have been scary for her. Corky is looking for a quieter home for her
retirement years. This sweet girl has lots of love left to give.
The week of Thanksgiving, our volunteers took in three new dogs from Detroit Animal Care and Control!
CJ, Roxanne, and Spencer are all in the process of getting settled into their foster homes. All three will be heading
to the vet for check-ups and vaccines. CJ and Roxanne will be treated for upper respiratory infections, and Spencer
has some skin issues that need attention. All are on the right track, and we feel privileged to be part of their journey to
an awesome new life where they’ll be true members of a family.
Our foster parents are the lifeline of our organization, offering the first warm, loving environment that a dog may have had in a very long time, or ever. In a home, homeless dogs have the ability to heal, grow, and flourish. If you are interested in fostering, please reach out to us. We’d love to tell you all about how you can transform a canine life!
Your donation dollars go directly to items that specifically prepare dogs for the adoption roster. This includes veterinary care, like routine vaccinations, spay/neuter surgeries, heartworm tests, treatment for kennel cough, ear infections, skin issues, etc. All of our dogs receive a collar, harness, ID tag, and are micro-chipped.
Your gift of any amount will help protect innocent animals and give hope for a new beginning to dogs like Corky, CJ, Roxanne, and Spencer.
